One summer
Low on breath
I fell short on physical activity
Challenged after
A few reps in the pool
My body asked for a pause
So I adjusted scale
Without assuming what I could do
Because really I had no clue
From a regular 20 lap, I started at 3
Added each day one, gradually
Respecting my ability
We are doing it easy
Let me know what I don’t hear
I am going real quiet here
It was key to not push beyond
Stay consistent, not go too strong
Keeping it small made growth possible
Had I pushed myself too quickly
I might still be coughing by the pool
