A thousand little steps

When I go on a trek
I don’t expect to arrive in the first hour
It’ll be days before
And a thousand little steps

Yet most of elsewhere
On guitar, a new area,
I expect to pick it up in an instant
From zero to full in a single time frame

As I defrost impatience
I seek reminders from
Later growers
Who state months and years
Getting it clear

Like a walk with land
Welcome excitement, curiosity
Flowers on the side, a sunrise
Nights under the stars

Of days ahead, I begin to see
The wonder of a million little steps
New, enchanted, ordinary
Making the whole of the journey
